History of the Hymn Festival
The Lutheran Hymn Festival of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex originated with the first festival in 1993. Since then festivals have been held in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2004. Each festival presents a unique oppportunity to sing great hymns from the tradition of the Lutheran Church and Christendom in general. The cost of the festivals is covered by gifts from individuals and organizations while proceeds from ticket sales are used to support a special ministry designated by the Board of Directors.The"Lutheran Summer Music Academy" has been chosen as the recipient for the 2007 Lutheran Hymn Festival. The planning and organization of each Lutheran Hymn Festival is governed by a Board of Director made up of members from Lutheran Churches in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. The Board also invites a well-known organist as well as other musical groups to help lead the festival. A mass choir representing many Lutheran Churches in the Metroplex leads the singing by the 2,000+ attending the festival.
